QuietDropper Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 27, 2026

QuietDropper ("the extension") is a color picker for web browsers. It is available for Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox, and this policy covers all three versions. Short version: it doesn't collect any data.

What the extension accesses

When you click QuietDropper's "Pick a color" button or press its keyboard shortcut, the extension takes one screenshot of the visible part of the current tab. It uses that image, in memory on your device, to show the zoom loupe and read the color of the pixel you choose. The image is discarded when you pick a color, press Esc, or close the tab. It is never saved and never sent anywhere.

The extension can only do this on the tab you chose, at the moment you chose it (the browser's "activeTab" permission). It has no access to other tabs or to sites you visit in the background.

What the extension stores

These are stored locally with the browser's extension storage on your device. The extension does not send them to any server. You can delete your recent colors at any time with the "Clear" button, and uninstalling the extension removes all of its data.

What the extension does not do

Clipboard

When you pick a color, its value is written to your clipboard so you can paste it. The extension does not read your clipboard.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new "Last updated" date. Any future version that collects data would ask for your consent first.
